About the Owner

Hi there! I'm Katie and I'm deaf.

I was born with a profound hearing loss due to a recessive gene I've inherited from both of my hearing parents. I have a cochlear implant and a hearing aid that enables me to hear quite well.

In fact, I actually played a violin and was in the symphony orchestra for four years in high school. I absolutely LOVE listening to rock 'n' roll, pop, and classical music. On occasions, I like listening to musicals such as The Cat, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserable.  My favorite music artists are Cindi Lauper, David Bowie, Whitney Houston, ACDC, Bonnie Tyler, and Sissel.

While I play quite well with the violin, I am sadly resolutely tone deaf (pun included) in regards to karaoke songs.

I love working crafts with my hands and very rarely ever used them for sign language.

My favorite pastimes are watching horror shows/films, playing video games (especially horror games), reading crossover stories and collecting fabrics. I play Star Wars online with my older brother once a month and it was thanks to him that he sparked my interest in gaming. And Lord of the Rings. While he is a mega fan of Lord of the Rings series, I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter series.

I graduated high school with a diploma as well as graduated from the university with a Bachelor's Degree and double majors. One of the majors involve Deaf Studies (because I wanted to know more about the deaf culture) and the other major includes Electronic Arts. I aspire to be an animator some day and work for Disney Studio. I love editing videos, photoshopping, creating comic pages and so forth.

I have a wonderful, mischievous kitty who is always eager to scare the living daylights out of me several times a day. Loki loves to cuddle, snuggle, and play around whenever he gets the chance.
